Leading Author to Share Web Portal Success Tips

How to Gain Buy-in from Your Collaboration Tool Users

Commack, N.Y. – June 7, 2007 – Author and consultant Susan Hanley will discuss the best practices for implementing portals at a free seminar co-sponsored by Microsoft and Invision, on Friday, June 15, at the Microsoft offices in New York City. At this seminar, attendees will learn about the best methods for gaining support and buy-in from users to achieve a successful roll-out of a SharePoint collaboration portal.

Ms. Hanley will present ways to ensure successful organization-wide adoption of Microsoft’s latest and most robust version of SharePoint during her talk titled “If you build a SharePoint portal, will users come?”

Also presenting will be Jane Koh, Information Worker specialist at Microsoft. Ms. Koh will demonstrate the new and exciting features found in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS).

Microsoft SharePoint helps streamline collaboration, shared processes, content management, enterprise search, and data sharing. Whether you are working across departments, companies, or great distances, SharePoint lets you easily share information with others in your organization. SharePoint Server 2007 supports all intranet, extranet, and Web applications within a single platform, and is easily integrated into your existing systems.

“The use of SharePoint cannot be mandated in the same way that a new accounting or email system can be,” said author, portal and collaboration expert Susan Hanley. “Users have other options for gathering information and accomplishing their tasks. Practical experience demonstrates that technology only has a small impact on the success of a new portal in an organization. A comprehensive strategy that addresses the needs of the whole organization — technology, processes and people — has a much greater chance of success.”

According to Tyler Roye, president and CEO of Invision, “There is a huge opportunity for companies and organizations to increase their productivity with a Microsoft SharePoint portal. There’s no doubt that the age of Web 2.0 is upon us, and users love wikis, blogs and portals. But that’s not a guarantee of success. The challenge is to implement your portal with the right combination of software tools, technology experts, and organizational planning to achieve a return on the investment. We’re pleased to present a world-class expert like Susan Hanley at this event to address the issue of what to do before, during and after implementation.”

Invision, a leading managed service provider in the New York metro area, has a team of Microsoft SharePoint experts available to assist clients with end-to-end development and implementation of a successful SharePoint solution. Invision offers consulting and development services, as well as hosting of the SharePoint application in its SAS 70 Type II compliant data center.

This free seminar will take place on June 15, 2007, at Microsoft’s New York City offices (1290 Avenue of the Americas). Sign-in and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. and the event will conclude at 11:00 a.m. Five lucky attendees will receive a signed copy of Susan Hanley’s latest book, Essential SharePoint 2007: Delivering High Impact Collaboration.
